Churches of Ufa V.2

I had great intentions of editing a bunch of photos the last two days, but I ended up wasting my Wednesday (and a dinner with Elizabeth that wasn't a waste) and running errands all day on Thursday that I wasn't able to get around to it. I just happened to find the photos from these two churches when I was going through photos to find one of myself to send my friend Katy for a guest post. Ironically, she's a Christian blogger. It's like a sign from God. :) I was surprised that I hadn't posted these yet because I was certain I had already posted all my old photos.

These photos are from last June after Elizabeth and I went to the abandoned town of Novoaleksandrova. (Side note: I know it's been a while since I posted anything abandoned but I have plans for visiting a place on Monday, so get ready.) Since we didn't spend much time at Novoaleksandrovka, because we were not dressed appropriately for getting eaten alive by mosquitoes, I suggested we go to this church since it was on the way back. I had seen the first church a few months earlier when A and I were waiting on the tram. I remember seeing the dome glistening in the light and making a mental note to myself that I had to go there.

This church isn't as beautiful as the other ones I've seen, but, like I mentioned a million other times, I love finding something in the city that I've never seen before. It's like a giant scavenger hunt. Before Elizabeth and I visited it I made an attempt to visit this church by myself a few weeks earlier. I remember it was a beautiful day and I decided to walk to it wearing shoes I hadn't worn all winter. Well, it's about an hour walk from my house, and by the time I got to a park near the cathedral my feet were covered in blisters, and I felt so dehydrated. I'm not joking about the blisters either. These weren't good walking shoes. I decided to stop into a grocery store to get a drink, take a break, go quickly to the church, and take the bus home. Then, as I went to grab my wallet to pay for my drink, I realized I left my wallet at my house. I was so mad both because I could barely walk at this point, my feet were in so much pain, and I just needed water. On top of that, it looked like it was going to rain. So, long story short, I didn't see the church that day, but I did somehow manage to make it all the way home where I couldn't walk for the rest of the day.

I don't think this building is technically a church. According to their VK page, it is a place for the youth of the Orthodox church. That could be completely wrong. I'm definitely not fluent in Russian. Regardless, I didn't know it existed until we walked past it to see the other church, but I couldn't help but obsess over how cute and small it was. Unfortunately, this is the only photo I managed to get because it was really sunny that day. The place also wasn't super photogenic.

I'm going to try to make a post about the mosques here in Ufa, but I can't make any promises. There is just so much I need to do before I leave!
