Shearings Takes 29 Tourismos and Announces Records Results

Shearings Holidays has added 29 brand new Mercedes Tourismo Euro VI coaches to its existing fleet.

22 out of the 29 new coaches are already in service, with the rest expected to be phased into the fleet over the coming weeks. The new Tourismos are part of Shearings Leisure Group’s 2017 order for 43 new vehicles, 29 three axle Tourismo M 16 RHD for the core Shearings fleet and 13 Tourismo 14 RHD for National Holidays.

The latest livery features an array of luxury features, such as full air-conditioning, arm and foot rests and dual 19” monitors paired with Bosch Professional Line audio/visual systems. Power to all coaches of the new Tourismos is delivered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 470 engine.

The safety specification on the coaches includes an advanced electronic braking system, lane departure warning system and an electronic stability control programme.

The announcement comes on the back of further growth in customer volumes, which earlier saw the company expand its UK & European holiday programme and add a range of new destinations.

The latest additions mean that Shearings now have the most modern and luxurious fleet of coaches in the UK industry.

The new coaches provide maximum comfort with stylish upholstery, generous legroom, individual overhead service controls and arm and footrests.

Record results

Shearings Leisure Group announced record trading results for its latest financial year.
The group – which includes the Shearings Holidays, National Holidays and the Coast & Country and Bay hotel brands – grew sales, profits and passenger numbers over the 12 months to December 2016, its fourth successive year of growth.
Revenue increased 3% to £207.2m (2015: £200.8m) alongside patronage growth of 4% to 1.12m (2015: 1.08m). Underlying profit increased 13% to £10.3m (2015: £9.1m).

The group also said it had continued to invest significantly in its hotel portfolio, having spent £4.6m on room and facility upgrades during the year, taking its three-year total to almost £13m. Further investments were also made in its coach fleet and IT infrastructure.
The Group plans to build on the record performance by investing in its brands, hotels and its digital platform to create easier and faster ways to book.

“We’re healthier and more adventurous than ever, and as interested in walking holidays in Austria and river cruises on the Rhine as hotel breaks on the Cornish coast.
