A Lazy Weekend. . . With Task-Oriented Shoes
Since I wrote here last, it snowed heavily for a day -- we accumulated something like 15 centimetres, so enough to impede mobility and encourage a lazy weekend. I cancelled my appointment with the dental hygienist and snuggled in with my knitting. (Sweater almost finished -- photographs later this week.)
And during that weekend at home, I worked out in the gym; I listened to a Nine read the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone while I knit; I helped the same Nine sew a wall hanging/stationery organizer with fabric (and pockets!) we cut from her Granddad's old shirts.
I started making a Fermented Sourdough Bread, which turns out to have an astonishingly long process, although not much more hands-on time than normal (less, in fact, if you still make a bread that requires kneading for ten minutes).
Went for a walk in the neighbourhood and took a few random photos of a lovely old building
Stopped at the florist's next door to this gorgeous bit of heritage and ordered a small bouquet -- forsythia, muscari, pussy willows, all the spring lovelies I could have gathered from my old garden for free, I couldn't help thinking -- which I picked up on the way home. Outside the shop, the owner had scattered rose petals, thus. . .
While I was admiring this sweet diversion from the snow, I noticed the mirror on the adjoining business's door and couldn't resist. Note the oh-so-fashionable footwear. Also note that I stayed upright the entire walk, thanks to said footwear. . .
We closed out the weekend with a Bowling and Pizza Party thrown by our realtor (an annual event). I will not share my score with you although it would introduce a comic note this post might benefit from. . .

As you'll note, the Bowling happened in the Black-Light section of the Lanes -- which makes this post's second pair of footwear even more, well, more. . . .right?
By now, it will be very clear that one thing I didn't do this weekend was write a blogpost. I'm rethinking the regular Monday postings, actually. I tend to think I'm going to write a post over the weekend, and that's turning out not to be the case more often than not. For today, I offer you this weekend report, written as I've watched the sun emerge from a dark sky to light fires all across the downtown skyline. And we're off . . . another new week. What's ahead for you?
