Here's some, umm, potentially interesting news on a day when heat index temperatures are expected to exceed 105 degrees here in the Wildwoods...

According to the 2018-19 Farmer's Almanac, which was published yesterday, we are in for a long, snowy winter ahead, with "teeth-chattering cold" and lots of snow.

The Farmer's Almanac (not to be confused with the Old Farmer's Almanac) has been published annually since 1818. It is calling for a "colder-than-normal" winter "from the Continental Divide east through the Appalachians."

"Contrary to the stories storming the web, our time-tested, long-range formula is pointing toward a very long, cold, and snow-filled winter. We stand by our forecast and formula, which accurately predicted the many storms last winter, as well as this summer’s steamy, hot conditions,” said Editor Peter Geiger.

According to Geiger, snow is likely to being in December and lingering wintry conditions will delay the onset of Spirng into late March.

February will bring frigid weather with bitter winds and widespread snow showers. Mid-March could be stormy as well, virtually coast-to-coast.

"In particular, we are red-flagging March 20–23 for a potent East Coast storm that could deliver a wide variety of wintry precipitation just as we are making the transition from winter to spring," Geiger continued. "So, no matter what the groundhog says in February, you’ll know winter isn’t going anywhere anytime soon."

So, what do you think... Are we "due" for a nasty, prolonged winter?

Also, what are your experiences with the Farmer's Almanac? Have you followed it in the past and found their predictions to be accurate?
