Green Space

Just a short walk from my apartment is the neighborhood park for Colonia Nápoles.  I posted a couple pictures of it more than a year ago when I first started staying in Nápoles.  It's not a large park, but it's very pleasant and it really has a lot of nice features for the residents.

The letters "BJ" in one corner of the park stand for "Benito Juárez", the name of the "delagación" or borough in which Nápoles is located.

There are some flower beds in that corner.

It seems that the azalea bushes bloom throughout the year, but they never seem to have the massive numbers of flowers that our bushes have in the spring up north.

Lots of bees were buzzing around the lavender flowers.

Want to take some flowers home?  There are a couple of flower vendors who have their stalls in the park.

The park has a pavilion for musical performances, but I have never seen any events advertised.

Winding through the park is a running path.  It is paved with a cushiony material so that there is less impact on the body.

There are chairs and tables set out.  Some people were eating lunch in the park.

There is an area with exercise equipment

And there is a very nice playground for the children.

Nobody was using the basketball court.

But there were a couple of guys practicing their moves on the soccer court.

There is a fenced in area where dogs can be let off their leashes.

This sign urges people to report anyone who doesn't pick up their dog's feces.  Failure to do so will result in a 1000 peso fine or arrest for 13 to 24 hours.

I was thinking that the sign must be working because I had not seen any poop on the walkways.  And then as I was backing up to take this picture, I stepped in some.

Oh well, it's still a nice park.
